Who is this QU-EEN? QUIÉN ES ESTA NIÑA…
The following post will give you a little more insight to who I am, my reason for blogging, my passion for travel and what’s next for me in 2017. Since I’ve never explained why I chose the Name QUIÉN ES ESTA NIÑA, or why my blog & social media are all QU-EEN. . . the reason is twofold. Firstly, I grew up loving Madonna who in my opinion was an inspiring woman living out her Goddess, truly a Queen in her own right. I admired that! Still do. She also had a song called Who’s that Girl? in which she sings that same lyric in Spanish: Quién es eta Niña? It would often get stuck in my head and one day it hit me in the middle of the night (yea I often get woken up with ideas, that Moon Inspiration that us Cancers are blessed with) the first initial of each word spelled out Queen!! So that’s it really. When I started this blog I liked that play on words. I wanted people to ask that question about me. Don’t we love it when people notice us and subsequently ask…
Who’s that Girl?/Quién es esta Niña?
As if the Universe somehow knew, shortly after starting this blog I had to search deep, deep within myself and find my Goddess/Queen within. She had been forgotten. She had been neglected for some time. She wanted to reawaken.
I began to practice Self Love, lots of it. I treated myself like the QU-EEN I was by putting myself first in every sense of the word, by eating healthy, by practicing Yoga, by going back to my old passions like reading and art, by taking myself on little SOULA adventures weekly, and believe me when I say that’s when everything started aligning in my life. On this blog I share my experiences, inspirations, highs and lows, everything really, but always recognizing that I’m a Goddess/Queen and hoping to inspire the Goddess/Queen in each of you. I hope this is evident in my writing.
Why did you decide to start a Blog?
I started a blog to recount the 2 week Road Trip my mom and I took throughout Ireland in early 2015. I had been traveling and seeing new parts of the world, places that were opening my mind and heart more and more in my late teens, then these magical places in Europe, Costa Rica & Perú in my twenties… and I’d come back and tell of my adventures. I remember always making it a point to show my ABUELO/GRANDPA pictures from my latest travels because he loved hearing about the far away lands I was falling in love with, being an adventurous soul himself in his youth. Finally in late 2014 I sat down and planned out a trip with my MOMMA (and for my Momma) in gratitude for all that she’s done for me in my life. She choose the country: Éire. I planned and booked everything and then when we returned I began to retell our experience as Mother/Daughter exploring Ireland in writing on Quién es esta Niña/ QU-EEN.
What has been your biggest challenge to overcome as a Blogger?
I think the only challenge I face is self-criticism. I want to write from the heart and move people, like I too have been moved by novels, films and blogs about travel. That’s my end goal, to move people. I don’t have the numbers currently, that viral following and yet I still write from the heart. . . I’m manifesting this year especially to grow my audience. Sometimes you just have to let life flow, be present and be open to that moment whenever it may come.
What have you learnt about yourself through Blogging?
I have learned many things through blogging. One thing I know is that memories live in the heart and mind. When I start writing a blog post, I try to go back to that place (city, country, environment) and see it and feel it. It’s actually alive in my heart and mind, in my memory, much more than in the photos. We get so used to looking at our life through a LENS sometimes because we don’t put our camera or phone down enough to enjoy what’s right in front of our eyes IN THE PRESENT MOMENT. So I have learned that THIS IS VITAL: BEING PRESENT as much as possible and taking as much time as the moments or days call for without so much technology tainting the Present Moment.
If you could wake up anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Right now, I would say either the Caribbean Coast of México. I’m aching to go back and share the places I loved and discover new ones too with my Roman. Even thought I was there in Sept 2015, I’m currently writing about that life-changing trip and posting weekly articles (click here to read about my México Lindo). Thailand or Bali are two other places that are of serious interest to me and have been for some time now. I am manifesting a 2017/2018 Adventure throughout ASIA. QU-EEN Manifests!
If you could speak any other language what would it be?
I’d say Italian & French. I have started learning both, but I’m not dedicating as many hours a week as I’d like to. French is on hold whilst I give ITALIANO a go. . . this is definitely the year though that I will become a beginner/intermediate in a new language! It’s about damn time.
What would you choose as your last meal on earth?
My last meal would be ENCHILADAS VERDES (maybe Enchiladas Suizas) a typical Mexican Food, but with all the works. I want Arroz y Frijoles on the side and the most heavenly guacamole too to accompany it. An all tropical fruit smoothie to wash it down would be lovely too. Mexican Food always wins for me.
If you could have a super power what would it be?
I don’t need any “super” powers actually. I already possess many powers, as do you. We just aren’t so good at recognizing our own powers anymore because there are people constantly trying to make us forget everything that we are capable of (governments, corporations, etc). I am working currently on RIGHT TIMING, when to use these powers I have and also ACCEPTANCE, when things don’t turn out the way I had planned or hoped. There is a reason for everything.
What advice would you give to your teenage self? Eating healthier will make you feel better in many ways & don’t worry about BOYS or those FAKE FRIENDS either, you know which ones I mean. Learn to appreciate your ALONE TIME as SACRED GODDESS TIME. YOU ARE A GODDESS IN FACT. KNOW THAT & BE IN YOUR POWER. DON’T HIDE YOUR GODDESS FOR ANYONE.
What is your Favorite Quote?
“Pies para que los quiero, si tengo ALAS pa’ VOLAR” -Frida Kahlo Translates to “Feet, what do I need them for, if I have WINGS to FLY”
and “…But I know every Rock and Tree and Creature, has a LIFE, has a SPIRIT, has a NAME.”
What plans do you have for 2017?
2017 will likely be a busy year for me. I have a trip to Israel in the works, I will finish my second year of teaching in Galicia, España and move to another part of the country in September. I am flying home to California for a visit in summertime and will be turning thirty in July, my favorite month of the year. I also have this feeling that summer will be life-changing in some way, through my travels and through more self exploration and soul work. I really am coming into my own. I’m very proud of the woman I have blossomed into, the goddess in fact, and I hope Quién es esta Niña stays with me for years to come.
With all my LOVE, shine your light on the world!!
